Ten newly-appointed additional judges of the High Court took oath of office on Thursday morning.
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha administered the oath at 10:30 am at the Supreme Court auditorium.
Appellate Division Judges, High Court Division Judges, Attorney General and wives of newly appointed judges attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Supreme Court additional Registrar Shawkat Ali Chowdhury moderated the oath taking program.
Earlier on February 9, President M Abdul Hamid appointed the 10 additional judges of the High Court on a temporary basis for two years under the Article 98 of the Constitution.
The judges are Deputy Attorney Generals Rajik Al Jalil, Bhismadeb Chakrabarti, Mohammad Selim, Mohammad Suhrawardy and Khijir Hayat, Supreme Court lawyers Jyotirmoy Narayan Deb Chowdhury and Iqbal Kabir Lyton Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Chittagong SM Mojibur Rahman (now on post-retirement leave), Supreme Court Registrar M Farid Ahmed Shibli and District and Sessions Judge of Gazipur Amir Hossain.
